HISTORY
The story of Plug24 News is a very interesting and dynamic one for the book!
Plug24News.com started as GlitzGhana in August 2012, on the subdomain (glitzghana.blogspot.com) focusing on arts and entertainment news, while our Founder Yaw Sarpong was in his last months at the then OMGGhana.com.
On Friday, 22nd March, 2013, the platform transitioned to its primary domain GlitzGhana.com before rebranding as GlammyNews.com in September 2014. It maintained this identity until September 2018, while remaining focused on the same niche.
In October 2018, the media and news firm recognised the need to reposition itself as a comprehensive news platform covering entertainment, sports, general news, politics, business, and more. This growth and transformation necessitated the change to the name PlugTimes.com which was used until December 2024, when we finally transitioned to our current name Plug24 News.
OUR FOUNDER
Plug24 News was founded by Ghanaian blogger and digital space engineer Yaw Sarpong. He has over a decade experience in the media space contributing to publications in the areas of showbiz, governance, and sports.
He is a graduate from the University of Ghana where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and English in 2012. He is also an alumnus of Kumasi Academy and Highbury International School in Kumasi and Accra, respectively.
His portfolio traces back to the success of online news portal OMGGhana.com during the early rise of blogging in Ghana, where he published many stories from November 2011 to December 2012. Prior to this, he was a Reporter for campus-based online news-portal CampusFocus between 2009 to 2011, where he developed his news reporting, writing and publishing skills, during his time at the University of Ghana.
